Portfolios Assigned by Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Today

Days after inducting 15 members into his cabinet, Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi assigned portfolios to his ministers on Tuesday. Channi was given the departments of vigilance, justice, and civil aviation, while deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was given the departments of home affairs, cooperation, and prisons.

OP Soni, another deputy chief minister, would be in charge of health and family welfare and the welfare of the defense forces and liberation fighters. The ministers took their oaths of office on Sunday, a week after Punjab saw a change of guard with Captain Amarinder Singh quitting and Channi taking over as the state’s new chief minister.

The ministers were sworn in as governor of Punjab Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and confidentiality. After numerous rounds of talks with the Congress high leadership, Channi reshuffled his government.

Gurjit Singh Rana, a Kapurthala MLA, returned to the new cabinet after leaving the Amarinder Singh ministry in 2018. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Brahm Mohindra, Manpreet Singh Badal, Aruna Chaudhary, Razia Sultana, Vijay Inder Singla, and others who were ministers in the previous Amarinder Singh-led government were retained.
