Nawab Malik Hits Out at Devendra Fadnavis; Alleges Support to Criminals

Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra minister, accused former state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis of brushing a case of confiscated counterfeit notes under the rug and resorting to ‘criminalization of politics’ by placing persons with criminal records to government bodies. In a news conference, Malik continued his rant against the opposition leader, saying that’more bombs will be thrown’ in the coming days and that he will blow the beans on this subject against the BJP.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis did not respond immediately to Malik’s new allegations. On Tuesday, Malik vowed he would unleash a “hydrogen bomb” on Fadnavis’ suspected mafia connections. On Tuesday, Fadnavis accused a shady land deal involving Malik, his family members, and two prisoners in the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings case, which the minister denied.

While bogus notes were recovered in other states after demonetisation on November 8, 2016, the NCP Minister maintained there was not a single incidence in Maharashtra. Fadnavis was the state’s chief minister at the time. The Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated phoney notes worth Rs 14.56 crore from the Bandra Kurla Complex on October 8, 2017, according to Malik (BKC).

Imran Alam Sheikh, according to Malik, was detained in this case. He said that despite criminal allegations such as murder, Munna Yadav of Nagpur was appointed head of the Maharashtra Construction Workers Welfare Board. Malik further claims that during Fadnavis’ tenure, he harboured a man whose second wife was a Bangladeshi woman. The Malad police were put under duress as they attempted to investigate the matter. Malik and Fadnavis have been accusing one other of having ties to the mafia.

On Tuesday, Fadnavis said that Malik and his family were part of a corporation that bought land in Mumbai’s Kurla neighborhood for a cheap price by falsifying paperwork. Last week, Malik attempted to link the BJP to a drugs dealer by sharing a selfie of the latter with the former chief minister and his wife, Amruta Fadnavis. After Diwali, the former CM claimed he will provide details on Malik’s “underworld connections” and share “papers and facts” with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar.
