New Delhi: The Indian government has decided not to import power equipment from China. Not only China, but also from Pakistan, India will not buy any power equipment. Power Minister RK Singh made this announcement on Friday.

Addressing the inaugural session of the Conference of Ministers of Power and Renewable Energy of States and Union Territories, RK Singh said that imports of equipment from China and Pakistan would not be allowed exclusively on inspection grounds. He further said that state discoms should not order supply of equipment to Chinese companies.

“Import of equipment from Prior Reference Country (formerly referenced countries) will not be allowed,” he said. Under this, we are preparing a list of countries but it mainly includes China and Pakistan. “They are placed in the category of” Prior Reference Country “which threatens India. It mainly consists of countries whose borders are with India. It mainly consists of Pakistan and China. He also asked the states to take steps in this direction.

Presiding over the conference of energy ministers of the states on Friday morning, he said, ‘We produce everything in our country. India imports power equipment worth Rs 71,000 crore, of which 21,000 crore equipment comes from China.

He further said, ‘We will not allow imports from China and Pakistan. Those devices may contain malware, which they can remotely activate to damage our power system. ‘
