For the next six months, the Yogi Adityanath administration has outlawed strikes across the country. Dr. Devesh Kumar Chaturvedi, the additional chief secretary, issued a notice. It stipulates that the strike is prohibited in any public service, company, or local authority that deals with Uttar Pradesh’s state issues. Those who disobey the directives will face legal consequences, according to the warning. Invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act, or ESMA, the Uttar Pradesh government outlawed strikes for six months in May. The decision was made due to the pandemic of coronavirus illness (Covid-19).

The ESMA Act gives a state government the authority to take action against employees who are on strike or refuse to work on essential services that are necessary for daily life. If somebody is discovered to be in violation of its provisions, state police have the authority to arrest them without a warrant. The statute stipulates that the offender must serve at least one year in jail or pay a fee of $1,000, or both. In May of last year, the Uttar Pradesh government invoked ESMA, and the strike ban was extended for another six months in November of 2020. On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh reported 23 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of current Covid patients under treatment to 196.
The CM described the ideal definition of freedom as “every poor person having a pucca house,” which the government has achieved under the PM Awas Yojana. The Ujjwala scheme was created by the government to equip women with smoke-free cooking options. The Saubhagya plan was given to the public as a gift for power. Kanya Sumangala Schemes were introduced for girl’s education, Samuhik Vivah Yojana for marriage, and Ayushman Yojana to ensure that no poor person dies due to a lack of medical treatment.
