While Indian tourists revel on the beach in Goa on New Year’s Eve, there were no New Year’s Eve parties on MG Road and Brigade Road due to the Omicron danger.

On Thursday, South Africa became the first country to declare that a wave of coronavirus infections caused by the highly contagious Omicron variety had passed its peak.

Australia and New Zealand rang in the New Year 2022 with pyrotechnics in Sydney and Auckland, respectively. Due to the spread of the Omicron virus across India and the rest of the world, various limitations have compelled people to stay at home on New Year’s Eve. As we say our goodbyes to the previous year on Friday, the night will likely be a lot quieter across the country, with state-by-state limitations kicking in.

The new version of Covid, Omicron is also in its peak and experts assumed it can lead the third wave of Covid. While the number of cases are rising everyday in countries like the United States and the United Kingdom; however, Indian specialists believe the country is on the approach of a third wave.

New Year’s Eve celebrations have been restricted in India. While some governments, such as Delhi and Karnataka, have outright outlawed celebrations, others have imposed tight restrictions, including curfews, to prevent the virus from spreading.

Internationally, events in Italy, Paris, and London’s Trafalgar Square, among other places, have been cancelled.
