Delhi CM urges people not to worry over rising Covid cases

On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated that the national capital may witness around 3,100 new cases of COVID-19 during the day. However, he also asked people not to worry or panic. He gave an address to the media and said that COVID-19 cases are rising quickly in Delhi, but there is no requirement for people to panic. The current active cases in the city are 6360. Presently, 3100 new cases are said to be recorded. Yesterday only 246 hospital beds were occupied. All the cases of COVID-19 are mild and asymptomatic.

The CM said that the new cases in Delhi are mild or asymptomatic and only 82 oxygen beds have been kept so far. The government of Delhi is ready with 37,000 beds. Delhi also ranks second highest in the number of Omicron cases, this is only behind Maharashtra. Of these, 57 patients have been sent back home after their treatment. As the new cases of Omicron were increasing, a yellow alert was issued in the capital.

As per the orders of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), schools, colleges, movie theatres, and gyms will stay closed. Markets, shopping malls, etc. are expected to operate on an odd-even basis. Also, the night curfew in the Delhi capital has been increased from 10 pm to 5 pm as an action plan in a graded manner to curb the spread of the Covid-19 variant.

Meanwhile, the chief minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal will be starting his campaign for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections with a rally in Lucknow today. As per a report, the AAP has got a support letter from people on assurances such as 300 units of free electricity, 10 lakh jobs, and unemployment allowance. The AAP has also announced a waiver of outstanding bills of 38 lakh families and also 24-hour electricity if they are supported to get power in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
