In response to an increase in COVID-19 instances, the Jammu and Kashmir government published new instructions on Sunday, including the adoption of online classes up to the college level and the best use of virtual mode for conducting official meetings. The State Executive Committee (SEC) convened here under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary A K Mehta and decided to keep the existing Covid containment measures in place, including a night curfew across the Union territory.
Following a thorough examination of the COVID-19 situation, Mehta, who is also the chairperson of the SEC, issued an order stating that, due to the uneven trend in daily Covid cases as well as the rising positivity rate, additional measures, in addition to continuing with the existing coronavirus containment measures, are required in all districts.

The decree mandated that all civil services, engineering, and NEET colleges, schools, polytechnics, and coaching centres use online teaching as a medium of instruction.
The night curfew will be in effect in all districts from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., with all non-essential movement barred, as per the order. The SEC, on the other hand, reiterates certain exceptions, such as a 25-person restriction at any indoor or outdoor event, and the ability to assemble up to 25 vaccinated persons or 25% of the allowed capacity, whichever is less, preferably in open spaces at banquet halls.

According to the order, all districts in J&K must increase their efforts to ensure that the second dose of the Covid vaccination is given on time and on schedule. District magistrates were also told to “enforce testing guidelines and build and activate their respective Covid war rooms to combat Variants of Concern/Variants of Interest, particularly B.1.1.529 (Omicron).”
