The Twitter handle of the Union information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry has been hacked on Wednesday. The Twitter handle’s name was changed to businessman Elon Musk for a temporary period of time. Later, it was restored. The ministry that has over 1.4 million followers on Twitter tweeted that the account has been restored and that the information is for all the followers.

The office of I&B minister Anurag Thakur and the Twitter company didn’t reveal the issue to the media much. However, it is assumed that an official check is being held to understand what has actually happened. After the account was compromised, many tweets had links to “amazing news” with bitcoin written in the backdrop were shared. However, these links were not available to access to understand which websites these links were leading to.

For the unaware, even last month, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter account was shortly hacked. There was a tweet that claimed about India had officially adopted bitcoin as a legal tender, which was put out from the account. However, the tweet was deleted shortly after. The company Twitter said that it has taken all the required steps to secure the hacked account handle.
Also, the PMO tweeted that their Twitter handle was very shortly compromised and in that short period, if there is any tweet been shared from the handle, it has to be ignored.
