An official from the West Bengal education department stated on Sunday that the state’s education department is planning to launch a new programme called ‘Paray Sikshalaya’ (neighbourhood school), under which primary and pre-primary pupils from state-run schools will be taught in open places.

After receiving clearance from the state secretariat ‘Nabanna,’ the project will recruit para-teachers and primary school instructors to provide elementary education to pupils in grades 1 to 5.
“Due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 epidemic, children have been denied access to tutorial classes for a long time. We’ve chosen to hold courses outside now “he stated.

Students will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities such as elocution and painting in addition to their elementary education, according to the official.
