Former MP Anand Prakash Gautam Quits Congress

Anand Prakash Gautam, a senior Congress leader and former MP, has resigned from the party, citing worker neglect as a reason. Gautam announced his decision at a press conference on Monday night, alleging that grassroot and industrious workers were being overlooked due to the money and muscle strength of famous leaders in the region.

Gautam was a two-term member of the Rajya Sabha.

Without naming former MP PL Punia, Gautam claimed that a top party official is attempting to “set up his equations” in order for his son to win the Jaidpur assembly constituency, and that he has no time to campaign for other candidates.

He claims that senior members of Congress are being ignored on purpose.

Gautam claimed that he had tried numerous times to meet and speak with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party’s national general secretary, but that her entourage would not allow him to do so.

When asked if his decision to leave the party was related to his son Jayant Gautam’s desire to run for the Haidergarh seat, Gautam responded no.
