The Gautam Budh Nagar district administration has announced that the existing Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) will be extended until March 31 in light of Covid-19 and the forthcoming Assembly elections.

On Monday, January 31, 2022, Ashutosh Dwivedi, the additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) law and order, issued an order prohibiting the meeting of four or more people in a public location.

  • No one will be allowed to go out in public without wearing a face mask.
  • The night curfew will be enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with the exception of necessary services.
  • Weddings are limited to 100 individuals in closed places and 50 percent of the total capacity in open locations.
  • Protests and processions that do not have the approval of the government have been banned.
  • Until February 11, no roadshows, rallies, pad yatras, or bike rallies are permitted.
  • Political parties and candidates for office can hold physical public meetings in specified open places with a maximum capacity of 1,000 people or 50% of the ground capacity.
  • Political parties are allowed to host indoor meetings with a maximum of 500 people, or 50% of the hall’s capacity.
  • Door-to-door campaigns will be limited to a maximum of 20 people.
  • Exam-taking students are not permitted to form groups of more than five members.
  • One day before the exam, no one will be allowed to open a photostat shop within 200 metres of an examination centre.

People who ignore the order shall be charged under Indian Penal Code Section 188.
