UP ATS to prove Gorakhnath Temple attack in Gorakhpur

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken over the investigation of the attack on the security forces at Gorakhpur’s famous Gorakhnath Temple on Sunday evening. The security of the temple has been beefed up now after the incident. The attacker Ahmed Murtuja Abbasi has been caught by the police.

Earlier in the day the temple attack video went viral on social media. Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, accused of attacking soldiers in Gorakhnath temple, graduated in chemical engineering from IIT Bombay in 2015.

Meanwhile, rumors and fake information related to the attacker are doing rounds. But as per the ADG law & Order, Prashant Kumar told the media that the accused Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi is a resident of the Civil Line area of Gorakhpur.

Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi graduated in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2015. After completing the degree, he worked in two big companies. After passing engineering in 2015, first worked in Reliance Industries and then worked in Essar Petrochemicals. The family members say that his condition is not good since 2017.

Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi has been treated by many doctors. He was living in Mumbai only. Meeting with friends has also reduced in the last few years for Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi. Murtaza Abbasi’s father Mohammad Munir has been a legal advisor in many finance companies. Murtaja Abbasi’s uncle is a great doctor of Gorakhpur. Abbasi is the owner of the said hospital.

As per the family accused Murtaza Abbasi was getting treatment in many cities. His marriage was also broken down due to his unstable mind. However, some clues have been found that Murtaza Abbasi has been radicalized through YouTube before committing this heinous crime. The UP ATS now has detained two suspects from Maharajganj, who may have provided arms to the accused.

UP CM Yogi Aditynath who also happens to be the main priest of the temple has announced a Rs. 5 lakh reward for the two constable who arrested the accused averting any big mishap.
