Muzaffarnagar (UP): A man has reportedly strangulated his 20-year-old daughter in Shyamli Shamla village under Jhinjhana police station in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh for having an affair with a man, the police said on Sunday. The police suspect that it was a case of honour killing that took place on September 9.
The man Pramod Kumar, father of 20-year-old Himani, was arrested on Sunday and confessed to his crime. According to a senior police official, Pramod Kumar committed the crime, because he thought that his daughter had tarnished the image of the family.
The girl had eloped with a 22-year-old boy Ajay Kashyap and returned to home after a few days, the police said. Pramod said that he had advised her daughter against keeping any relationship with the boy, but the girl did not listen to him, so he polished her off. After murdering Himani, Pramod hid her body in a place in the house. The police recovered her body and sent it for post mortem.
