Uttar PradeshTeacher at Lucknow school booked for beating girl student

Lucknow: A female student of class 5 of a prominent school in Lucknow could barely imagine that her failure to complete homework would provoke her teacher to beat her up so much as she would return home with injuries on hands and face.

The teacher was booked for voluntarily causing injuries to the nine-year-old student after her mother had lodged a complaint at the Krishna Nagar police station in the city, the official sources said on Thursday. Meanwhile, the school authorities suspended the teacher and formed a committee of two teachers to inquire into the case.

According to the girl’s mother, the teacher called her up to say that she had slapped her daughter for not doing homework. The teacher concerned also asked the girl’s mother to come to school. The girl’s mother further said that she had been shocked seeing her daughter’s swollen cheeks and red marks on her hands. The girl told her mother that the teachers slapped for at least 15-20 times.

She said she had taken her daughter to the principal who did not pay any attention. She then lodged a complaint at the police station.
