Petrol price crosses Rs 92 per liter

New Delhi: Petrol price crossed Rs 92 per liter in Mumbai on Friday after the rate hike for the third time this week, while the price of diesel reached an all-time high. According to a price notification by the government oil marketing companies, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by 25-25 paise per liter. This led to the price of petrol being Rs 85.45 per liter in Delhi and Rs 92.04 in Mumbai. In the national capital, the price of diesel reached Rs 75.63 per liter, the highest level ever. In Mumbai too, the price of diesel reached an all-time high of Rs 82.40.

Prices of petrol and diesel were increased by 25-25 paise per liter on 18 and 19 January this week. Fuel prices in the country are now at record highs. In order to reduce the burden on consumers, demands are being raised for excise duty reduction.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan earlier this week attributed the production cut by Saudi Arabia to the increase in oil prices.

Top producer Saudi Arabia has promised an additional voluntary cut of 10 barrels per day of crude oil production in February and March. This has led to an increase in raw floor prices since the epidemic.
