Date:

Lucknow (UP): A court of additional district and sessions judge awarded 20 years’ jail term to a government primary school teacher for sexually abusing an eight-year-old boy and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000. The incident took place on May 14, 2015 when the teacher concerned took the child to the roof of the school and sexually abused him.

The court also said that half of the money imposed as fine would go to the child. The teacher told the boy if he had disclosed the incident to anyone, he would be beaten up and killed. The father of the boy said that they came to know of the incident when the child had fallen ill.

Initially, the child kept mum, but when his parents questioned him, he said that the teacher had been sexually abusing him for several days. The boy’s father then lodged a complaint at the Narkhi police station. On the ground of the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the culprit.

Nevertheless, the boy’s father said that the police were initially pressuring them to settle the case. According to district government counsel Sanjeev Sharma, when the teacher was found guilty, he pleaded for lighter punishment, but the court said he had committed a heinous crime.
