Government increases fertilizer subsidy by 140%

New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government has announced to increase the subsidy on DAP fertilizer from 500 ₹ per bag to 1200 ₹ per bag. Instead of 2400 ₹, the DAP bag will be available to the farmers for 1200 ₹. The government will give an additional subsidy of ₹ 14,775 crore on it. This decision was taken in a meeting held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the meeting, detailed information on the subject of fertilizer prices was given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a presentation. It was discussed in the meeting that due to the rising prices of phosphoric acid, ammonia etc. at the international level, prices of fertilizers are increasing. The PM stressed that despite the rise in international prices, farmers should get fertilizer at the same old rates.

The historic decision was taken to increase subsidy for DAP fertilizer from Rs 500 per bag, 140% to Rs 1200 per bag. Thus, despite the increase in international market prices of DAP, it has been decided to sell it at the old price of Rs 1200 only, along with the central government has decided to bear the entire surcharge of the price increase.
