New Delhi: According to the data released by the Finance Ministry on Wednesday, the country’s net direct tax collection grew by 100% to over Rs 1.85 lakh crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2021-22 till June 15.
Whereas the net direct tax collection in the same period last year was Rs 92,762 crore. Similarly, advance tax collection in FY22 so far increased by 146% to Rs 28,780 crore. Also, tax refund of Rs 30,731 crore has been issued so far in the current financial year 2021-22.
The Finance Ministry said that out of the direct tax collection of Rs 1.85 lakh crore, the government got Rs 73,365 crore from corporation tax. Whereas, personal tax and security tax together received a total of more than Rs 1.11 lakh crore. Despite the second wave of Corona, the government is happy with such tax collection.
The gross direct tax collection of the central government so far in FY22 stood at Rs 2,16,602 crore as against only Rs 1,37,825 crore in the first quarter of FY21. Of the gross direct tax collection of Rs 2,16,602 crore, Rs 96,923 crore came from corporate tax, Rs 1,19,197 crore from personal income tax and security transaction tax.
