New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime has reduced the number of taxes levied in the country and is a milestone in the economy.
On the occasion of the completion of four years of the GST regime, PM Modi tweeted on Wednesday saying, “GST is like a milestone in the economic scenario of the country. This has reduced the number of taxes to be collected and also reduced the burden of taxes on the common man. At the same time, it has increased transparency, compliance and total tax collection. “
The GST system was implemented in the country on July 1, 2017. The Finance Ministry has said that so far 66 crore GST returns have been filed in the country.
