Rajnath Singh (Defence Minister) gives approval for the proposal of girls admission in Sainik schools across the nation for academic session 2021-22. According to the sources, the particular decision was taken following the achievement of a pilot project initiated by the Defence Ministry.  It was for the admission of girl children in Sainik School Chhingchhip in Mizoram two years back.

Along with this, Rajnath has directed authorities concerned to make certain availability of vital infrastructure and adequate women staff in Sainik schools for smooth execution of the directive.

The decision is in process with the goal of the government towards more inclusiveness, gender equality, empowering more noteworthy participation of ladies in Armed Forces. Also, strengthening the motto of  ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, proliferated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Sainik Schools are a system of schools in India which is formed and managed by the Sainik Schools Society. Apart from this, it is under the Ministry of Defence. The schools come under the domain of particular state governments and the Ministry of Defense.
