No need to speculate about opening of schools: Nishank

New Delhi: Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that there is no need to speculate about the opening of schools as our first priority is to ensure the safety of our students and teachers. In this regard, I am in constant touch with the state education ministers, education secretaries, CBSE and other education boards. ‘

The HRD minister said, “To ensure that students continue their education, we have made educational resources available to all students through the e-learning platform. In addition NCERT has released an optional academic calendar for both primary and upper primary classes which makes it possible to learn through both digital and non-digital mediums. An optional academic calendar from class IX to XII will be released soon.

He further said, ‘We will ensure that there is no problem in the examination process and the rules of’ social distancing ‘are strictly followed while conducting the examinations properly. The dates of board examinations have been announced and evaluation of answer sheets has also started. Very soon we will come up with a comprehensive solution for the education sector.

He further said that keeping in mind the safety of students and teachers, the Ministry has asked them to follow the guidelines of ‘Social Distancing’ when schools and colleges are opened, so that the safety of all can be ensured. The NCERT is preparing the guidelines for social distancing for schools, while the UGC is making this rule for colleges.
