US to invest in training of H1B One Workforce

The United States has said that it is going to invest USD 150 million (over Rs 1,100 crore) for the training programme of middle-to-high-skilled H-1B occupations in important sectors in the American economy.

Information technology, cyber security, advanced manufacturing, transportation are some of the key sectors in which the H-1B One Workforce grant programme would be used to reskill the current workforce.

The idea is to train and upskill a new generation of workers for the development of the future workforce.

Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the education and training industry, thus making employers to think again about the delivery of training and development programmes.

The programme will also aid workers to get a creative combination of training plans, leveraging innovative modes of training delivery, including online, distance and other technology-enabled learning, says a report.
