EducationHow journaling can help heal issues at work

Date:

Journaling your thoughts and views are one of the important ways of dealing with issues you have at the workplace. If you have been through a lot of work pressure and office politics, then I am sure you would be able to relate to the professional trauma of Rohit who had been subjected to emotional and verbal abuse at his workplace. This story is of success at the workplace despite having so much emotional baggage and traumatic experiences.

Tips to stay mentally active at home

Rohit joined a real-estate company as a Sales Executive. When he joined the company, he found everyone to be quite different than him, as everyone worked in different groups but he used to sit idle, do his work, have lunch, and spend his break time alone. Whenever he tried to mingle with others, they would comment nastily on his dressing sense and coming from a lower community.

Tips to manage workplace transformation

Rohit tried to ask his manager what was bothering others but he never got a proper response. All he received was criticism at work and also comparisons with other sales executives’ targets who were working in his team. Rohit wanted to quit the workplace immediately but he had no option but to suffer the bullying and mental abuse that he was going through. After all, Rohit had to take care of his elderly dad who was going through heart-related ailments. His job was the only source of income for the medical and living expenses of his family.

One fine day, Rohit stumbled upon some inspiring blogs online. He read of how one woman who was going through emotional trauma in her life started journaling and writing her thoughts every day in the book. Rohit was encouraged to buy the journal book and he also started giving 15 minutes of his work day to write in the book whatever he was going through.

Rohit encouraged his school friend to go through his journal at the end of the month and find out what was the root cause of all his sufferings. His school friend told him that Rohit always had the habit of overthinking and trying to fit in with others. But Rohit was different and unique which he never acknowledged and accepted. So, when people didn’t value him, he would get hurt and feel like a low person. But that is not the case.

Rohit got enlightened by his friend’s encouraging words. He decided to write more about his story through his journal and even wrote a book on how an employee tolerated all the abuse but yet stuck to a company to pay the bills. Rohit kept removing the frustration that he was feeling because of the office politics that he was subjected to. This made him feel lighter from within and eventually, he stopped listening to others and watching their behavior toward him.

He focused completely on his goals in his career. Thus, he got a better job opportunity in a good company as he used his journaling technique to overcome his emotional problems and become resilient.
