L’Oréal Appoints Gaurav Anand as Marketing Head

L’Oréal India announced the hiring of Gaurav Anand as chief digital and marketing officer on Monday, a newly formed position by the manufacturer of the Garnier and Maybelline brands.

Anand will be a member of the India management committee and will oversee and combine consumer insights, analytics, strategy, media, and consumer advisory responsibilities to allow L’Oréal’s digital-first brands to achieve growth across online platforms, according to the firm.

The decision comes as the company’s online sales share has continued to increase. This is especially true in the cosmetics industry, which lacks a well-organized retail network across India. Consequently, more people are shopping for beauty and personal care items online and discovering new brands.

According to Amit Jain, managing director of L’Oréal India, the Indian customer is rapidly shifting to omnichannel. According to Jain, a beauty tech business responds to the changing landscape by deploying new technologies to improve goods and customer experiences to capitalize on this shift in consumer behavior.

Before that, he was in charge of P&G’s premium skincare brand SK-digital II’s marketing. He also led Facebook’s business development division in many geographies, including FMCG, consumer products, and tech businesses.
