New Delhi: In a stern move, the Election Commission has banned Mamata Banerjee from campaigning for 24 hours in the West Bengal assembly elections. This action has been taken against West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata for violating the election code of conduct. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata is accused of commenting on Muslim votes and allegedly inciting people to ‘revolt’ against central security forces, she was also issued two notices last week by the Election Commission.
The order to ban Mamata from campaigning for a day is the final decision of the current Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora. This decision has come at a time when voting has been held for four phases in Bengal.
