Bio
Kashyap was born to a middle-class family. Her father, Omprakash Tiwari, was a doctor on a short-service commission with the Indian Army, where he served in the Bangladesh War of Independence.
Her schooling was from Loreto Convent, a local Catholic school, and then she got transferred to Delhi Public School, Ranchi, due to her father’s transferable job. She pursued Honours in Botany from Delhi University. She appeared for the All India Pre-Medical Test but failed to pass. During her school time, she participated in debates and showed her leadership qualities, which later helped her find her path in journalism. She was the head-girl in both the schools and the president of her college hostel.

Kashyap married Mangesh Kashyap, a 1995 Delhi, Andaman, and Nicobar Islands Police Service cadre officer. She met Mangesh during her college days at Delhi University. They both have a son and a daughter together. She took an active part in Social Work in school, which carries forward till now. Kashyap was also active in extracurricular activities. Kashyap’s first job was as a counselor at Daewoo Motors, and then she joined an NGO as a legal counselor.
Passing out from Jamia Milia University, she did a desk job for Doordarshan. After a while, she moved out of it and did reporting for News 24 channel. After a year, she again moved to Zee News, where she wanted to do full-time anchoring, but the channel found her lagging behind a little in presenting, so they gave her a job production. This hit her hard, and she got a command over her lack of presenting skills to be one of the top anchors of Zee news. Later she joined Aaj Tak, and the rest is history. She is one of the prominent faces of Aaj Tak of all times.
