On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into an online interaction with the Chief Ministers of all states and union territories. In the first meeting of the year between the PM and CMs, Modi decided to get an understanding of the existing coronavirus situation of the nation. Earlier, Modi communicated with the health ministry officials and asked them to make the vaccination campaign strong and active.

The meeting comes at a time when India has recorded more than 2.47 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases in a huge 24-hour rise. The sharp rise has taken India’s active count to 11.1 lakh. From the last week of December, the COVID-19 situation in the country has started to worsen like anything with metro cities recording a quick rise in the daily number of fresh cases.
Experts are of the opinion that this is the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and the peak of the same can be seen later this month.

Omicron is said to be the variant that is causing the rise in coronavirus cases and is believed to lead to the pandemic. It can be noted how Delta dominated the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
In the review meeting, Modi said to the Chief Ministers to stay alert and to ensure that full care should be taken so that no stress or panic is created among the people. PM Modi also shared how a collective approach is required to make sure that no severe situation arises in the state. Modi also said that no misinformation must be spread about vaccines among the public. The CMs have been told by Modi to focus on local containment zones in order to stop the spread of COVID-19. Also, maximum people must be cured within the norms of home isolation said Modi in the meeting to review the current pandemic situation across the nation.
